About Bleachers
Jack Antonoff spent a year building Bleachers in secret, writing between tour stops with Fun. and telling almost no one beyond a handful of people, mostly family. The New Jersey rock project, formed in 2013, draws on the late 1980s, the early 1990s and John Hughes's high-school films, yet it is made with modern production. Antonoff was the sole permanent member until 2023, when longtime touring players Mikey Freedom Hart, Sean Hutchinson, Evan Smith, Michael Riddleberger and Zem Audu became official.
The debut single "I Wanna Get Better" arrived on 18 February 2014, with Strange Desire following on RCA that July. Terrible Thrills, Vol. 2 (2015) handed those songs to female artists including Sara Bareilles, Charli XCX and Sia. Gone Now (2017) toured with Antonoff's childhood bedroom rebuilt inside a trailer, and an MTV Unplugged session was recorded at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. In 2018 he produced the Love, Simon soundtrack. Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night (2021) featured Bruce Springsteen on "Chinatown". Bleachers and the re-recorded A Stranger Desired followed in 2024, then Everyone for Ten Minutes in 2026.
