About Dead Poet Society

Heavy, down-tuned riffs collide with soft, pop-leaning verses and choruses in the music of Dead Poet Society, a rock band from Boston whose frontman Jack Underkofler has called the result "heavy indie rock" and "djent pop". They formed in 2013 at Berklee College of Music: Underkofler on vocals and guitar, Jack Collins on guitar, Nick Taylor on bass, Will Goodroad on drums. With a first gig two days away, they needed a name fast, and chose one unrelated to the film. AllMusic hears dark, progressive hard rock fuelled by anger, with personal development among the lyrical themes.

After graduating they moved to Los Angeles. In 2016 the Mexican blog Pepe Problemas championed them, and Sputnik invited them on a national tour of Mexico; seven more visits followed over two years. Their US break came in 2019 supporting Andrés, then Badflower, the year Dylan Brenner replaced Taylor on bass. Self-producing and self-recording at first, they signed to Spinefarm Records in 2020 and released the debut album -!- in 2021. Third album Monarch arrived in October 2026, followed by a US co-headline run with Honey Revenge, part of which was rescheduled so they could support Muse on The Wow! Signal European tour.
