About Kate Nash
Kate Nash's path into music began in North Harrow, where she grew up in the town's Irish community with a Dublin-born mother and a Dartford-born father. She started playing piano at eight and writing songs in her free time at fifteen, and by 2007 her conversational, guitar-led pop had made her one of the most talked-about new voices in British music. She is also an actress, a dual career that gives her work a theatrical streak.
Her debut single, 'Caroline's a Victim', appeared in 2007 on Moshi Moshi, and her second, 'Foundations', spent five weeks at No. 2 on the UK singles chart, sixteen copies short of the top spot. Made of Bricks reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in August 2007, and it was followed by a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 2008. Her label dropped her after an attempt to move away from indie pop, and she has since released Girl Talk (2013) and Yesterday Was Forever (2018) on her own label. Her fifth album, 9 Sad Symphonies, arrived on Kill Rock Stars in 2024, and she co-wrote Rita Ora's hit 'Poison'.
