About Rosalie Cunningham

Few singer-songwriters arrive at a solo debut with as much band experience behind them as Rosalie Cunningham. Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, she first released music with Ipso Facto, which she formed in 2007 and for which she wrote every song. Her later years were spent with the psychedelic rock group Purson, and since 2017 she has worked as a solo artist, a shift she described as a move toward a more DIY approach to her music.

Ipso Facto put out singles on Disc Error, PureGroove and Mute Records between October 2007 and October 2008, starting with "Harmonise" and "Balderdash", before splitting in mid-2009. Purson, which she toured and recorded with for eight years, ended in April 2017. Her debut solo album, Rosalie Cunningham, appeared on 5 June 2019 through Esoteric Records via Cherry Red, followed by Two Piece Puzzle in February 2022. Meanwhile she has sung backing vocals for Magazine and the Last Shadow Puppets, performing at the BBC Electric Proms and on Later... with Jools Holland.
