About Static Dress
Static Dress make records the way some writers build serials: every release from this Leeds band advances one continuing story, and the narrative has spilled out into a comic book and three video games. The group formed in 2018 around vocalist Olli Appleyard, drummer Sam Kay and guitarist Tom Black, all formerly of the melodic hardcore band Galleries, with Connor Reilly on bass. Early writing roamed across styles in search of a voice, and hardcore punk came first, though none of it was released. Today the line-up is Appleyard, drummer Sam Ogden, guitarist Vincent Weight and bassist George Holding.
The single "Clean" appeared on 14 August 2019, and a live debut in Glasgow followed that October, supporting Decay. Tours supporting Counterparts and Creeper came next, and "Safeword" was filmed over FaceTime in lockdown. Prologue... (Comic Book Soundtrack) arrived on 3 December 2021 with a companion comic book. Debut album Rouge Carpet Disaster followed on 18 May 2022, then a US tour supporting Loathe and, in 2023, a European run with Bring Me the Horizon. They signed to Roadrunner Records and issued two Redux volumes of reworked tracks. Injury Episode, their second album, arrived in 2026.
