Tara Clerkin Trio

About Tara Clerkin Trio

A band that began as an eight-piece collective in Bristol and ended up as a three-way conversation between voice, drums and keys, Tara Clerkin Trio sit where jazz rock, avant-rock and trip hop overlap. Formed in 2020 as the Tara Clerkin Band, they are now vocalist Tara Clerkin, drummer Sunny Joe Paradisos and keyboardist Patrick Benjamin.

A run of EPs came first, among them In Spring in 2021 and On The Turning Ground in 2023, the latter singled out by Pitchfork for music that drifts gently yet stays full of life, with ideas that seem to grow naturally from one another. Money trouble then pushed the group out of Bristol to Liverpool and London, and their second album was pieced together in fits and starts between international tours. Somewhere Good was released on World of Echo on 5 June 2026. The Guardian heard a new direction in its more structured songwriting and storytelling; Pitchfork named the title track Best New Track and called the record a triumph of restrained invention, while Allmusic found it arty, dubby, melodic and head-nodding.
