About the venue

Now trading as Malvern Theatres, the Festival Theatre sits on Grange Road within the Winter Gardens complex in the centre of Great Malvern, and has anchored the town's arts life since 1885. Its name was made by George Bernard Shaw: nineteen of his plays were staged here up to 1965, six of them premieres, including The Apple Cart at the first Malvern Festival in 1929.
