About Daniele Silvestri
Born in August 1968, Daniele Silvestri works as both singer-songwriter and musician, and his career rests on writing his own material and performing it himself. Italian by birth, he has built a body of work that rewards listeners who follow it album by album.
His self-titled debut arrived in 1994 and won the Targa Tenco for Best Debut Album. In 1995 he entered the Newcomers' Section at Sanremo with "L'uomo col megafono", a song later placed on his second album, Prima di essere uomo. Its single "Le cose che abbiamo in comune" became a radio hit that year and took the Targa Tenco for Song of the Year. Il dado, a double album, followed in 1996, and Sig. Dapatas in 1999, after a Big Artists slot at Sanremo with "Aria" earned the Mia Martini Critics' Award. Occhi da orientale, his first greatest hits set, came out in 2000. In 2002 "Salirò" won the Critics' Award at Sanremo, reached the top five in Italy and, that December, collected four Italian Music Awards.
