Olivia Rodrigo releases 'expectations' remix with Chappell Roan and David Byrne video
The remix, produced by Daniel Nigro, is Rodrigo's first and Roan's first guest feature. The video casts David Byrne as host of a fictional game show.

Olivia Rodrigo has released a remix of 'expectations' featuring Chappell Roan, according to Consequence. The track is Rodrigo's first remix and Roan's first guest feature. It comes with a video directed by Bardia Zeinali in which David Byrne appears as a game-show host.
The remix was produced by Daniel Nigro, whom Consequence describes as a longtime collaborator of both singers. The original 'expectations' appears on Rodrigo's third studio album, 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love'.
A game show with Byrne as host
The video is styled as a fictional 1980s game show called 'The Big Expectations Show', with Rodrigo and Roan as the competitors. Consequence also describes it as '70s-inspired.
Byrne plays the host, Johnny Johnson. Consequence says he delivers his version of a Bob Barker-style presenter in his own distinctive manner, and speaks a few lines in the introduction before the music begins.
The remix can also be bought in limited-edition physical formats: 7-inch vinyl, CD and cassette.
Context: album, tour and fundraising
The parent album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 equivalent album units in its first week and topped the charts in 17 countries. Consequence reports that this was the biggest opening week for a solo artist in 2026.
The collaboration follows Rodrigo's first Daisy Chain Fields festival, held in Southern California this summer. Roan was among the performers at the women-led event, which raised $20 million for 10 nonprofit organisations supporting women and girls.
Rodrigo is currently touring on 'The Unraveled Tour', which began last month and, per Consequence, has sold more than 1 million tickets worldwide. The source does not list dates, so UK readers should check official channels for any shows in Britain.
Roan, meanwhile, has a two-day fundraiser in Los Angeles later this month, The Super Graphic Spectacular and The Super Graphic Block Party. Net proceeds from ticket sales will go to her Midwest Princess Project, which supports trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.
